Anonymous asked: I just wanted to say that your photo of the rock in the water at the beach is gorgeous, but I don't / couldn't see a comment link, so I'm doing it here. It's mesmerisingly stupendous. Andy.
Thank you so much Andy!

Inspiration. Another take on “Little Red Riding Hood”, a favorite children’s story of mine, and believe me I have many. This could not possibly be Photoshopped. It looks entirely too clean, too real. I adore the colors, dof and wildly imaginative concept. What a gorgeous location too! This takes my breath away…

Brookeshaden is undoubtably one of my very favorite photographers that I have found on Flickr. Her work with textures is inspiring as is her endless imagination. I love the intensity and poetry in her photography and after viewing any of her images I find myself thinking about them for a while afterwards.

This was taken at Cannon Beach, Oregon, sometime in 2010. A magical afternoon and evening spent with my two teenage sons, Daniel and Sam. The beach was packed with photographers and tripods and general beachcombers. I really began shooting when the sun was at it’s lowest and, looking around me, I was surprised to discover that almost everyone had suddenly vanished and I was almost alone. To achieve amazing, deep color I knew this was the time to shoot but, honestly, I still questioned myself. Lesson for the day: Follow your gut instincts and go for it.

INSPIRATION
I want to create tones like these.

This came together rather quickly, especially compared to some of my other textured works. When creating this I purposely worked fast and not meticulously as I am apt to do. I wanted the end result to be something gritty, raw,… edgier. Often, I can work hours on a single photo( sometimes driving myself crazy!), continually redoing, perfecting until I have something closer to what I want. I am learning though that less is often more.
